I saw David Beckham’s first competitive play since he came to the MLS last night. DC United beat LA Galaxy 1-0, Beckham played about 20 minutes. We were all pretty surprised he came on at all, since there had been rain and LA was down a man. We were expecting about 10 minutes from him in perfect conditions.
He had a couple of dangerous balls into the middle of the box, and if LA had some better finishing at least one of them would have been a goal. This year I’ve become a Beckham fan (when he’s not playing the black and red), and I think he’ll be good for MLS. Last night was a lot of fun. It’s always fun to boo a legend.
